This summer An Post launched postfone, Ireland’s new mobile virtual network operator (MVNO ) on the Vodafone network. With excellent pre-pay any network, any time rates, this simple to use service is now available through a network of post offices inWestmeath, and a further 150 post offices nationwide. Postfone offers a very competitive flat rate of 20c per minute and 9c texts, a range of easy-to-use mobile phones and accessible mobile services.
With an emphasis on no-frills, simple, and straightforward rates, postfone guarantees personal hands-on service and easy accessibility six days a week for customers wishing to buy a phone, transfer from their existing operator or better manage their credit. Postfone is currently available for sale from four post offices in Westmeath and will come on stream in all additional post offices by the end of the summer months. Once the roll-out is complete An Post will offer the largest reach of retail mobile phone services in the country.
An Post’s €2 million-plus investment in postfone, [an MVNO (mobile virtual network operator ) with Vodafone,] is the latest addition to the company’s range of financial and communications products and follows a recent announcement by An Post of its deal to provide cash banking services for National Irish Bank customers.
Mick O’Sullivan, the north east regional manager for An Post said: “Postfone is great news for our post office customers. This new mobile phone service offers superb call and text rates in a local, friendly, and familiar place. We know most of our customers as we see them on a daily and weekly basis so we can provide them with personal assistance with every aspect of buying a postfone phone and help them with managing mobile phone costs.”
Our friendly, expert staff have been trained in the set up and service of postfone, so we hope this will help people feel like they are getting good advice when choosing the best mobile phone network for them,” he added.
Postfone’s Gary Finnerty explained: “Switching to postfone does not involve any change of number; customers keep their own mobile number. There’s a lot of competition in this market and we believe our simple, easy-to-use service perfectly caters for those seeking a reliable and trusted mobile provider offering real value. A single tariff applies to all networks at all times and postfone’s range of easy to use handsets offers the latest features at lower prices. We’re offering great incentives to switch over to postfone and it’s easy to do. Irish mobile users now have a real alternative to the old, established networks.”
Postfone is yet another convenient service for the existing 1.7 million customers who visit a post office every week to access mail, communications, and financial services including bill payments, banking, and State savings. Several top-up options are available for postfone - including at all post offices and nearly a thousand Postpoint outlets.
