An open invitation has been extended to the people of Westmeath to celebrate the county's official launch of Culture Night 2010.

“I want to invite everyone to this celebration launch of Culture Night. This is the first year that Westmeath has taken part in the national event and we have 72 events, which is fantastic,” said Ms Kelly.
“The launch on August 24, will give locals the opportunity to discover Culture Night in their area, as we plan to officially unveil our programme of events for September 24,” she added.
The Culture Night launch will take place on Tuesday August 24 at The Atrium, County Buildings, Mullingar at 5.30pm where the Energy School of Dance will be one of the many acts to showcase their talent on the night.
While this is the first time Culture Night is being held in Westmeath the event has been running since 2006 in other counties around Ireland including Dublin, which saw more than 150,000 people attend some 120 venues last year.
The event is an initiative of the Temple Bar Cultural Trust and is part sponsored by the Department of Tourism, Culture and Sport and Westmeath County Council.
