Killucan and Mullingar Shamrocks secure semi-final spots

Killucan and Mullingar Shamrocks were the big winners after the final round of group games of this year’s Shay Murtagh SFC. Both sides enjoyed easier than expected wins in their respective games against Athlone and Garrycastle to take the direct route to the last four.

Tubberclare and The Downs will also be well pleased with their efforts having nailed down third spot in their groups and thereby a place in the quarter-finals.

St Loman’s got the better of Coralstown/Kinnegad in the bottom of the table clash to leave last year’s beaten finalists free from relegation worries. Kinnegad now face St Malachy’s in a relegation play-off.

Castledaly failed to make the knock-out stages following their 1-13 to 1-6 defeat at the hands of Tyrrellspass. The Downs secured their place in the last eight with an impressive 0-23 to 0-7 win over St Malachy’s.
