Local businesswoman wins bid for Ireland

Local MOHH salon owner Maeve O’Healy-Harte has recently secured the OMC European Championships in Hairdressing and Beauty for Ireland in May 2011.

Maeve is president of the OMC World Hairdressers in the Western European Zone and because of this Ireland was finally favoured as the country to host the next championships. It is estimated that 25,000-30,000 will attend the event.

The OMC World Organisation is established over 60 years in 65 countries. It is estimated it represents over 500,000 hairdressing salon owners worldwide.

Maeve joined forces last year with Frank Hession and together worked on the idea of Ireland hosting such an event. Bord Failte are delighted with this event coming to Ireland and have made both Frank and Maeve Congress Ambassadors for Ireland and will be supporting the event. The Irish Hairdressers Federation then also came on board and secured the RDS for the event which will run in conjunction with a Hair&Beauty Trade Show.

This is a fantastic achievement and an honour for Ireland to host such a large and prestigious event.
