SuperKidd Promotions celebrates third anniversary

SuperKidd Promotions takes over The Stables this coming August 6 and 7 in celebration of their third anniversary. It’s been an exciting three years under the SuperKidd banner, with highlights including the emergence of many fine local musicians, free sandwiches, and the old man being spooked by the death metal kids applying their make-up. So what better way to celebrate than with two nights of the best in local and national music?

Signed to the same label as The Redneck Manifesto (who recently performed to a sell out crowd in The Stables ), Enemies will headline on Friday night. Formed in 2007 they play upbeat post rock and have toured Ireland, the UK, and Japan and released their debut album We've Been Talking this summer. Be sure to catch them live before they embark on a return trip to Japan this September; it could be your last chance if they encounter any Godzilla-related trouble over there.

Fans of Mumford & Sons, Fleet Foxes, and Arcade Fire are in for a treat as Awake Young Soldiers will also be playing on Friday night. The talented seven-piece act won rave reviews for their set at Oxegen this year and recently released their debut EP From the Veteran's Dreams.

No stranger to The Stables is Tullamore native Mark Conway who has been described as a cross between Mick Flannery and Biffy Clyro which sounds impossible, but you can judge for yourself when he takes to the stage on the night.

Rounding off night one is a very special treat for those who have followed SuperKidd gigs these past three years. Featuring members of Decipher, Ricotta, P45, and Twenty Twelve plus Thee Mike Cole, the Unknown supergroup (as they will be called because they didn’t come up with a name in time ) have promised a storming set full of shocks and surprises emphasising the wealth of musical talent Mullingar hosts.

Saturday night has a distinctly local feel with Mullingar’s newest act Dillon and the Deadbeats headlining their first gig. After cutting their teeth with gigs around the country, they take to the stage in support of the release of their debut EP, which is available on the night.

Lending support will be The Two Man Gang who have gone from strength to strength since debuting at one of SuperKidd Promotions’ recent open mic nights and The Last Partizan who count Oasis, Kasabian, and The Beatles as influences.

Entry is just €3 on Friday and €5 on Saturday and both nights start at 9.30pm. Be sure to pop down for what promises to be two nights of stellar entertainment.
