Damien Dempsey to headline charity micro music festival

It’s Helium time of year again – not quite the size of the famous music festival Oxegen but helium is slightly lighter and smaller after all.

On July 31 the micro music festival Helium is back by popular demand for its second year aiming to raise even more money for the Fredreichs Ataxia Society of Ireland (FASI ). Following the success of last year, the event takes place again at Skellys Bar, Main Street, Ballymahon. Co Longford.

This year, Damien Dempsey will be the headline act with a vast array of musicians from near and far including the Midlands’ own Lilac Blues, Arrow in The Sky, Adela Mealy, and Veronica Moran. Added to the bill this year are Scottish drumming troupe Clann an Drumma who are sure to bring the Braveheart spirit to proceedings. There is also the highly anticipated appearance of the Stone Roses’ tribute band The Third Coming along with many many other groups and artists. On the night there will be a hog roast, full BBQ, Fire Poi performers, and body artist Monica Forde plus lots of surprises. Full camping and after-party marquee for all patrons is also included.

As this year Helium 2010 is strictly an all ticket event, it is advisable to purchase tickets as soon as possible to avoid disappointment due to limited capacity.

Tickets are only €25 and are on sale at outlets around the Midlands including Skellys Bar and The Daybreak Country Shop in Ballymahon; Music World, Athlone; The Music Centre, Longford; and E2 Music, Mullingar. Tickets can also be purchased online at www.tickets.ie
