The Nuts Corner Fundraising Fancy Dress Cycle takes place on Sunday July 11.
This fancy dress cycle has generated incredible support and captured the imagination and pockets of the people of Athlone over the last three years.
In 2006, the first cycle raised €20,000, in 2007 €45,000 was raised, in 2008 €52,000 was raised, and last year €25,000 was raised and donated equally to Athlone Hospice, Downs Syndrome Athlone, and the Athlone Chernobyl Project.
The fundraising committee is hoping that despite the current climate the people of Athlone and surrounding areas will continue to support the event again this year and more importantly help raise badly needed funding for more worthy local charities including the Athlone Chernobyl Project, Athlone Sub Aqa Club, St Hilda’s, and Special Olympics Athlone.
The cycle will follow the same format as previous years leaving from Mardyke Street early in the afternoon of Sunday July 11 and out to Glasson Village. Free transport, entertainment, and a BBQ will be provided for all the participants on the day!
