Oxigen helps residents clean up

Oxigen recently headed to Meadowbrook and Willow park estates in Athlone to help spruce up the area - doing a general clean up of the estates, tidying hedgerows, and clearing areas which have been prone to illegal dumping.

The company even threw in a complete bin collection for residents living on the estates for free!

Michael O’Reilly, litter control, Westmeath County Council, who was there on the day, said: “I am very pleased to see that one of the refuse collection companies is putting something back into the local community. We are delighted to be working with Oxigen here trying to improve the area.”

One resident, John Boyle from Norwood Court, said that he was overwhelmed that Oxigen was collecting his bins and tidying the area for free and added that he would now be availing of Oxigen’s great offer, ‘buy one bin tag, get another for free’.

Similarly, chairman of Willow Park and Meadowbrook Residents’ Association, Padraig Higgins, said, “We didn’t realise they had such competitive prices and I will be putting that forward to the residents’ association. We are delighted to see them here assisting us in our work.”

Morris Myers, PRO of the residents’ association, added, “We are delighted about the clean up. It is a great opportunity for us to get rid of hard plastics and other rubbish that has been polluting the lovely hedgerows, that wouldn’t fit into the domestic bins.”
