Athlone Agri-Show - an exhibition of farming pride

A day out for all the family with a great variety of activities and events, Athlone Agri-Show will take place at the showgrounds, Gaffeys Farm, Moydrum, Athlone this Sunday June 27.

The schedule of events for the day includes classes for cattle, sheep, goats, horses, ponies, and donkeys. There will also be be sheep dog trials, show jumping, sheaf tossing, a pets’ corner, musical entertainment, and a vintage display.

In addition to these events, the day will provide a host of entertainment for adults and children alike, with cookery, children's amusements, bonny baby show, tug-o-war, trade stands, live musical entertainment, and much, much more.

A special highlight will be the €1000 All-Ireland lawnmower Grand Prix.

Speaking at the recent launch in the Shamrock Lodge Hotel, chairman of the Athlone Agri-Show, Michael Flanagan, complimented the various organisers for the tremendous work they had put in over the last nine months in arranging such a varied schedule of events.

He also thanked the Gaffey Family for the use of the showgrounds, now recognised as one of the top showgrounds in Ireland.

“Without the support of our sponsors we would not be able to continue to produce an agri-show on such a large scale and for your continued loyal support, may I say, on behalf of the Agri-Show committee to all of our sponsors, a very sincere thank you.

“I want to say a special word of thanks to Athlone Town Council which is our major sponsor and I sincerely hope that your association with the Agri-Show will be something that you will be proud of, when you see the fruits of our efforts on Sunday June 27 at Gaffeys Farm, Moydrum.”

The showgrounds open at 8am for exhibitors and 10am for the public. Admission is €10 per adult, and children go free.
