Dear Editor,
This Saturday June 12 the people of Mullingar and the villages in Westmeath have a chance to send a signal of support for our hospital in Mullingar, to the doctors and nurses and support staff who have served us so well, that in the last two years running they have been selected as the top hospital in Ireland.
It is also a time for the community voice to be heard by those who deal in stealth and cunning to downgrade our hospital, displaying no respect for the wishes of the people, the tax payers who elect representatives to represent the people and communities and do what is good for our community, not for themselves.
I am delighted to hear Fintan Cooney, cathaoirleach of our council confirm it is not a political party issue, and I expect to see our two local Senators lead from the front, along with all other local elected representatives.
Everyone has a vested interest in making a statement that our hospital should no longer be downgraded in any shape or form.
So let us all come together this weekend at 2pm at Mullingar Hospital, and march for the survival of our hospital.
Let the voice of the people be heard as one, and let the politicians ignore the people no more.
Yours, etc
