Eagle-eyed car spotters should note that next month, the first versions of the stunning new Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG will be seen on Irish roads.
With its up ’n over, gull-wing door design that echoes the legendary 300SL sports tourer of the 1950s, the race-bred SLS is powered by a throaty 6.3-litre, 571bhp V8 engine that delivers a top speed of 317 km/h and a 0-100km/h time of 3.8 seconds.
Whilst being tight-lipped about the number of models ordered by Irish drivers, Mercedes-Benz sales manager in Ireland Ciaran Allen did confirm that demand is likely to exceed the number of units allocated to the Irish market, even in these recessionary times.
