Global accountancy body gives award to local Athlone firm

ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants ) has awarded Albert O'Connor & Co, Pearse Street, Athlone, the ACCA Quality Checked award after a detailed inspection visit of his practice affairs.

Albert O’Connor, on receiving the ACCA Quality Checked award said, “I am particularly pleased that my staff and I were the first in Athlone to achieve this award from ACCA. We work hard to provide the best service we can for clients and it is gratifying that ACCA recognised this hard work. Our aim is to allow business people to run their business and to not worry about their PAYE, VAT, bookkeeping, accounting, audit, or tax affairs.”

Aidan Clifford, ACCA’s advisory services manager said, “ACCA accounting practices are monitored on regular basis and those found to have particularly strong quality control procedures are given the ACCA Quality Checked award. The ACCA Quality Checked scheme applies to member firms all over the world and it is particularly pleasing to see a small practice in Athlone getting this award. Albert O’Connor is the first in Athlone to be awarded this status.”

Mr O’Connor added “Since opening our office in Pearse Street, Athlone we have concentrated on customer service and value for money. In the current environment, we don’t think it is simply good enough to process a tax refund for a client and leave it at that, we want to help clients arrange their business affairs and their tax affairs in an efficient way and plan for the future. We even offer a free consultation for start up businesses, because we feel that a business needs to start out on the correct footing, and we want them to get professional advice at the very start.”
