Westmeath County Council’s new arts development plan is to be launched on Tuesday May 25 in the Old County Buildings, Mullingar.
This six-year Strategic Arts Development Plan (2010-2016 ) will provide aims and objectives for the council in the coming years, and is the second successive arts plan to be launched in the county.
A steady expansion of the arts has continued across the county since the establishment of the county’s first arts office in 2002 and the publication of the first arts plan, covering 2003-2009. All of the 92 objectives of the first plan were achieved over its lifetime, with the implementation overseen by both the Arts Forum and the Housing, Social and Culture Strategic Policy Committee.
Over the six-year period the county’s arts service has increased and extended the grant aid and award opportunities available to artists, arts groups, arts organisations, developmental agencies, and venues for the arts, while gathering valuable information about the county’s practices and interest in the arts in order to inform its programmes.
Westmeath County Council is proud to launch its second six-year arts plan from 2010. It will be launched by cathaoirleach Cllr Fintan Cooney at 4pm on Tuesday May 25 in the Reception Room, Old County Buildings, Mullingar.
