Glad rags at the ready for charity fashion show

Athlone’s finest boutiques and to showcase summer collections from Irish and international designers at 7.30pm on Friday May 21. Style and the City will be hosted in the town’s newest over-30s venue, The Piano Bar, with money raised going towards Action Breast Cancer.

“For us, organising an event of this nature provides us with a great sense of satisfaction. We have the opportunity to meet lots of people from all types of business who are willing to show their support in every way possible and at the same time we can raise money for such an important cause,” says Dee of Muze Model Management, organisers of the event.

The fashion show is a perfect opportunity for women to dress up, spend time together, have fun, and raise funds for Action Breast Cancer.

Shops participating in the show include Burgess, Olivia Danielle, and The Clothes Peg of Church Street; Graces which can be found on Mardyke Street; Zara of Athlone Towncentre; and Dress, Kadee, and Tri-Zone, all on Pearse Street, Athlone.

The show is not only about the clothes; hairstylists Kellie and Danielle from Fringe on O’Connell Street are on board to create this season’s more dramatic looks and local photographer, Warren Mulvey, will be present on the night to capture the event through the lens. Tommy and Kathy Conlon are lending their venue, The Piano Bar, Dublingate Street, Athlone for the fundraiser.

“We couldn’t ask for a more glamorous setting, the lavish interior includes amazing chandelier lighting, retro papered and mirrored walls, and cream leather seating. It is the perfect backdrop for a fashion show,” said Marese of Muze Model Management.

The night will kick off at 7:30pm with a drinks reception. Treats will be provided by Anita and Larry Gavin of Nini Direct Catering Company, a local business which specialises in healthy, home-cooked quality food and baking.

To coincide with the much anticipated Sex and the City 2 movie there will be lots of prizes and surprises and movie themed activities on the night including a prize for the most stylish lady.
