The adjudicator of this year’s All Ireland Drama Festival, Tom Doherty, has given his public adjudication each night after the evening’s performance. His final adjudication will be given on Saturday night, May 8, in the Dean Crowe Theatre, Athlone immediately after the play Copenhagen.

The announcement of the winner of this year’s RTE All Ireland Drama Festival will take place in the Radisson Hotel later on Saturday night after drama supporters and the committee make their way from the Dean Crowe Theatre to the Radisson Hotel.

The suspense is building and the adjudicator has managed to keep his cards close to his chest throughout the week. The standard this week is being regarded as one of the highest in the history of the festival, which has always been hosted in Athlone. The theatre has been packed to capacity each and every night of the festival and the committee has thanked the audiences for showing their support for the festival in Athlone.

Thousands of theatrical supporters have flocked to Athlone during the week and generated an estimated €3 million for the local economy. The town council has been complimented by the committee for their excellent work in the presentation of the town. The festival committee has also thanked the Tidy Towns for their work in ensuring that the town is tidy and clean for this important event.

RTE has once again given the drama festival unwavering support as the main sponsor and this important sponsorship will ensure the future of the festival for the coming years. Local sponsors also play an important role in assisting the continued success of the festival and they have been acknowledged in the festival programme and website.
