Quinn Transport, the Westmeath member for The Pallet Network (TPN ), has contributed to the €8 million 2009 turnover for the national transport group.
Westmeath company Quinn Transport is one of the 23 regional national network carriers for TPN, one of Ireland’s leading freight, transport, and logistics services providers.
Welcoming the news, managing director of Quinn Transport, Tony Quinn, said: “The health of the freight, transport, and logistics industry is often considered a barometer for the overall strength of the economy because it comprises ports, roads, railways, freight terminals, airports, and distribution and materials handling centres, all integrating within the economy.
“Overall, TPN has reported a 15 per cent increase in activity for 2010 to date. We are optimistic that this increase in activity will manifest in the general economy; as confidence rises, consumer spending increases, which in turn means considerably more goods being transported. This of course is good news for Quinn Transport and TPN members throughout the country.”
Operating from a purpose-built 13,000 square foot warehouse in Athlone’s Blyry Industrial Estate, Quinn Transport employs over 30 full-time staff and uses a fleet of 38 vehicles. Quinn Transport was founded in 1973 and has been serving businesses in Westmeath, providing them with a high quality, reliable, fast, and flexible service which is individually tailored to meet their needs.
The €8 million revenue announcement comes in the wake of TPN’s recent Logistics Best Practice award win at the Irish Logistics and Transport Awards, where it saw off stiff competition from a number of major companies, including Stena Line and Kuehna + Nagel, one of the world’s leading logistics providers. The awards recognise Irish logistics and transport operators who help create and sustain a competitive edge for the Irish economy.
Chairman of TPN, Owen Cooke, said, “Our success is down to the 23 committed members that we have around the country. The efforts of members like Westmeath’s Quinn Transport have meant that we are meeting the needs of both small and large enterprises and keeping our services levels as high as ever. For 2010, we are projecting that TPN will reach €9 million turnover.”
