Seven burglaries in six hours

Gardai are appealing for witnesses after seven home burglaries were carried out across Westmeath in the space of just six hours on Monday this week.

The spate of burglaries took place across the county between 11am and 5pm on Monday, covering areas including Moydrum and the Mullingar Road in Athlone, Castletown Geoghegan, Kilbeggan, and the Mullingar area.

All seven of the houses targeted were entered by means of a rear door or window, and amounts of cash and jewellery were taken.

It is understood that a dark coloured car was used in the incidents.

Gardai believe that as the majority of incidents occurred in busy, populous areas, it is likely that there may have been witnesses.

Anyone with any information that may assist Gardai is asked to contact Athlone Gardai at (090 ) 6492600 or their nearest Garda station.
