Contestants of the 4 x 4 challenge arrived at the Carlton Shearwater, Ballinasloe last week to begin their night navigation course in the area.
Teams came from as far as Down, Dublin, Offaly, Meath, Westmeath, Mayo, and Galway. The seventeen, 4 x 4s departed from the town at 7pm on Saturday March 28 and embarked on their night navigation mapping the route and collecting their clues along the way. The event was organised by John Mcdevitt with the Stargazer Lily Foundation to raise much needed funds for the new Ballinasloe Cancer support Centre and Cancer Research Ireland. Ian and Gill, team participating members said “It was a great challenge for a very good cause and they will defiantly be back again next year.” The event was kindly sponsored by Recovery and Winch, West Coast Spares, Classic Service Athlone, The Carlton Shearwater Hotel, Stronge of Ballinasloe, Callahan Jewellers, Byrnes, and “Signs and Systems”.
