Songs of the Legends charity show

Some of Ireland’s leading entertainers are warming up to sing the songs of The Beatles, Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash, Elvis, Neil Diamond, and other legends of the music world in a charity show for GOAL’s work in Haiti at the Shamrock Lodge Hotel, Athlone on Easter Monday, April 5.

The Songs of the Legends has been launched by a host of top figures from the Irish music scene and features the best sounds from the 1950s to the present day.

Led by the father of the group, Joe Flynn, the troubadours will bring their two-hour show to the Shamrock Lodge and help to raise as much money as possible to support the relief that GOAL is providing to the victims of the earthquake in Haiti. Joining Joe will be such well known entertainers as Frankie McDonald, Paschal Brennan, Joe Rabbette, broadcaster and musician Ricey Scully, Chuck Daly, Peter Kelly, and some surprise guest appearances. Altogether, the group will bring over 200 years of entertainment experience with them.

“This is a fully-costumed show with non-stop music for the audience,” explained Ricey Scully. “We have put a huge amount of work into getting this right, with Geraldine Conroy putting the show together and arranging all the costuming. We have a few other surprises we want to keep up our sleeves for now but it promises to be a great night’s entertainment,” added Ricey.

Tickets are available from the Shamrock Lodge Hotel and GOAL agents or contact Ricey Scully on (086 ) 8153047.
