A cut above the rest!

Emma Kelly from MOHH, Athlone had a fantastic day at the recent Irish Hairdressing Championships, taking home second place in the Trainee Long Hair Up category.

The Irish Hairdressing Championships, which took place at the RDS, Dublin, saw over 400 hairdressers from across the country compete to win one of the 12 categories and four prestigious industry awards, considered the highest accolades for hairdressers working in Ireland.

Run by the Irish Hairdressing Federation since its inception in 1974, the awards showcase the best of the industry’s talent, with technique-based awards ranging from Cut and Colour awards to Long Hair Up-styling and the more elaborate Creative Fantasy award.

A total of 12 categories including Ladies Full Fashion, Ladies Street Fashion, and Men’s Free Style showcase the level and range of skills in the hairdressing industry in Ireland.

The Irish Hairdressing Championships 2010 displayed the most impressive show ever with a steady level of entries and the highest standard of work seen to date.

Irish Hairdressing Federation president Saundra Fabian commented, “Irish hairdressers have again delivered an extremely high calibre of work through their dedication, creativity and directional new looks in all categories of the competition. The event has attracted almost 500 entries, which in this current economic climate shows the industry’s dedication in training and nurturing both new and existing talent moving forward.”
