Peadar King is a singer and songsmith from Inishbofin Island, Galway.
In 2004 he began his first music project entitled Cornerstone with vocalist Orla Gibbons from Birr, guitarist Ray Hahessy, bassist Michael Curran, and drummer Leroy Smith. They played together for two years, during which they garnered a loyal fanbase.
In early 2007, they went their separate ways. Peadar went to France for six months where he continued to write and perform, while returning sporadically to Galway to record his debut album, The Nature of Flaws, on which many of the musicians he had worked with in the past featured. He released the album independently in July 2008 to a packed house in CUBALive, Galway, and to a receptive home crowd on Inishbofin Island one week later. Since then he has been touring steadily with his new band, featuring Orla Gibbons on vocals, Michael Curran on bass, Tom Portman on Dobro, Lap-steel, Acc and electric guitars, and Cormac Dunne on drums and percussion.
Peadar King plays in Birr Theatre (Oxmantownhall ), Birr, Co Offaly this Saturday October 4. Visit www.myspace.com/peadarking for further information.
