The HSE has confirmed it is examining the circumstances surrounding the death of a woman in Roscommon County Hospital.
It is understood that the woman, who was in her 50s and suffered from a disability, died following an accident in which she fell from her wheelchair and down a flight of stairs at the hospital.
In a statement the HSE said it is awaiting medical reports and that no further details can be released at this time.
“The HSE is currently examining the circumstances surrounding the death of a person involved with one of our disability services in County Roscommon.
“A preliminary review of the known facts is ongoing and we are awaiting certain medical reports. It will not be possible to comment further until that initial examination is complete,” read the statement.
A postmortem examination has been carried out, and Gardai have been made aware of the woman’s death.
