Mullingar multi-instrumentalist releases first album

Musician Glenn McMahon has just released an album of 11 original songs entitled Begin, on which he is the sole writer, performer, producer and engineer.

Having spent years in England, Glenn returned to Ireland last year to promote his music. Glenn took a degree in biotechnology at Dublin City University, but abandoned science to work as an autism residential care manager and staff trainer.

Throughout his various pursuits however, Glenn’s first love was always music. Entirely self-educated, he learned all he could about the rudiments of music production, to the point where he is now credited as the sole singer, multi-instrumentalist, engineer, producer, mixer and mastering engineer on his debut album.

He is currently performing in various venues across Ireland including Canton Casey’s upstairs bar in Mullingar on the following dates:

Friday, March 19 and Saturday, March 27; Saturday, April 17, Saturday, May 15, and Saturday, June 19.

He is performing in Danny Byrne’s, also in Mullingar, on Wednesday nights on the following dates: March 10 and 24 and April 14.

Aside from his creative achievements, Glenn was a junior All-Ireland discus champion and played gaelic football for Westmeath at minor and under 21 level.

He is no stranger to the fame game either, as his brother Terry wrote for and starred in Fair City and their first cousin is Irish rugby legend, Trevor Brennan.
