Would you like to learn how to reduce your carbon footprint and develop a more sustainable lifestyle? If so, why not come along to Westmeath County Council’s free workshop ‘Eco Tips for Communities’ on Wednesday February 10?
The new workshop, jointly funded by Westmeath County Council and the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, will be delivered by the Irish Peatland Conservation Council, to provide local communities with the skills and information they need to take up the challenge of reducing their carbon footprint, reduce their contribution to waste, conserve the natural resources of energy and water, protect biodiversity in natural habitats, and grow their own food.
Each participant will be provided with information leaflets, and further information will also be provided on IPCC’s website at www.ippc.ie
The programme will include tips on waste reduction - how to set up, operate, harvest and handle problems encountered with a compost cone/heap and wormery/vermicomposting; energy and water conservation - simple ways to introduce changes in homes and communities; and grow your own - an initiative to not only reduce food miles but also benefit the health and well-being of the local community.
The workshop will also include a questions and answers session.
Westmeath County Council’s free workshop ‘Eco Tips for Communities’ takes place in the Arts Centre, Mullingar on Wednesday February 10 at 7pm.
