It’s been a good year for The Aftermath. With three top 20 singles under their belt, Mulllingar’s mod-poppers have just been named in the Hot Press 250 Greatest Irish Albums of All Time, as voted for by Irish musicians, for their debut album Friendlier Up Here.
The band, who have been hailed as “the saviours of Irish lad rock”, return to their Mullingar roots on St Stephen’s night for The Aftermath Christmas Carols in the Arts Centre.
The Mullingar lads have already begun work on album number two, due for release in 2010, which will follow their critically acclaimed top 20 debut album, released in 2008.
The Aftermath have shared the stage with the likes of The Script, The Pigeon Detectives, Ian Brown, Keane, The Frames, and Razorlight to name a few, and have sold out shows from Dublin to Leeds to Berlin.
You can celebrate Christmas with The Aftermath in Mullingar Arts Centre this St Stephen’s night, Saturday December 26. Doors open at 10pm. Tickets, priced €10, are available from Mullingar Arts Centre at (044 ) 9347777 or www.mullingarartscentre.ie
