Westmeath people of all ages are gearing up to run, walk, or crawl a Mile for GOAL this Christmas at three different locations throughout the county.
Toddlers, teenagers, and all those young at heart will have the opportunity to join in the festive fun in Athlone, Moate, and Mullingar and raise as much money as possible for GOAL’s many life-saving projects in the Developing World.
This year’s Westmeath GOAL Miles take place at Athlone GAA Club, Pairc Chiarain (Christmas Day, 11.15 am ), Castledaly GAA Club in Moate (St Stephen’s Day, 11am ), and Mullingar Harriers, Grange (Christmas Day, 11am ).
Now in its 28th year, the annual GOAL fundraiser has become an integral part of Christmas for thousands of people and families across the country. Last year, GOAL Miles were held at 72 locations nationwide and generated over €370,000 for the poorest of the poor.
And the event promises to be even bigger this year, with new GOAL Miles scheduled for places such as Rosslare, Leixlip, Kenmare, Listowel, and Kells.
“The GOAL Mile is always a very popular community event and a wonderful way for people in Westmeath to show their support for the world’s most vulnerable children and families this Christmas,” said GOAL CEO, John O’Shea.
