An exhibition of work by artist and AIT lecturer, Margo McNulty, will open at Roscommon Arts Centre on November 19. The exhibition, entitled Imprint, presents a body of work that has been created over the last four years and has been exhibited in part in Cologne, Paris, Louvain, and Poland.
The Kiltoom artist deals with themes of hidden history, memory, and place, and with aspects of everyday life and experience. Her work is influenced by geography, agrarian culture and traditions inherent in Irish culture.
McNulty is widely recognised for her work that deals with identity. In the development of these concerns, McNulty participated in an artist-in-residence programme in the Museum of Country Life in Castlebar. This gave her access to a wide range of artifacts which she used as source material for some of this recent work.
A lecturer in design at Athlone Institute of Technology, Margo McNulty studied Fine Art in GMIT and completed a Masters in Fine Art Print at the National College of Art and Design (NCAD ). She is a member of the Graphic Studio in Dublin.
In 2006, she presented Re-Trace a major solo exhibition at the Museum of Country Life, Castlebar. She has exhibited widely, and has been the recipient of several national awards.
Imprint will be opened by John McHugh, manager of the Custom House Studios, Westport. The exhibition runs from November 19 until December 3.
