Men arrested over burglaries released without charge

Three men who were arrested last week in connection with a spate of burglaries across the Midlands have been released without charge.

Files are being prepared for the DPP on the men, who were detained and questioned by local Gardai in connection with the series of burglaries, carried out in Westmeath, Longford, Offaly, and Tipperary over the past six weeks.

The three men, all in their 20s, were arrested on Wednesday last week at locations in Wicklow and Dublin. One of the men was brought to Athlone Garda Station, while the other two were brought to Tullamore Garda Station.

They were detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, and questioned by Gardai, but later released without charge.

Gardai say their investigation into the spate of burglaries is still ongoing.
