Just two years on the road, The LOLS are fast becoming one of the most sought-after bands in the Midlands and across the country.
The Moate-based band, made up of local lads Stephen Martin, Stephen Devaney, William Burgoyne and David Healy, are getting busier by the week, and are getting ready to release their second single which will be out in the new year.
The band have a hectic few months ahead, with gigs all over the country, a national award to pick up, several weddings, and a date at a premier Dublin music venue to squeeze in all before Christmas.
The Irish Entertainment Awards, to take place in the Radisson Hotel, Athlone on October 19, will see the lads pick up their first ever accolade for best corporate/wedding band, an honour which will no doubt encourage the band to continue to wow their many audiences.
The Helix in Dublin is the venue for the All-Ireland Foroige Awards on Thursday, October 29, where the band will be playing at the after-concert bash. This will be their first appearance in Dublin, with another gig in Whelans of Dublin the following week.
Another big event for the lads is the Queen of the Land Gala ball in Tullamore, to take place this coming November. Earlier this year, the band played in front of 60,000 people at the Tullamore Show, turning in what was probably their best performance yet.
Drummer with the band, William Burgoyne, is delighted that the band’s workload has increased dramatically over the past year.
“We have a lot more on now than we did this time last year. We are gathering up more material all the time, and really concentrating on the gigs at the moment. We are varying the set list, and every gig is different. It all takes time,” he tells us.
“We have been very busy with weddings, and have a lot booked in for next year already. The weddings side of things is really building and we are getting our name out there.”
The success of The LOLS as wedding entertainers is evident in the many bookings and enquiries the band pick up through their website, www.thelolsireland.com The website atracted the attention of over 10,000 people during the month of September alone, following representation at a number of wedding fairs.
Don’t miss The LOLS as they return to their base at the Auld Shebeen, Moate for a gig this Saturday night.
