New Mercedes-Benz E200 CDI arrives with low pricetag

Mercedes-Benz continues to exert downwards price pressure to the luxury segment with the arrival of their new entry-level E-Class 200 CDi which comes on the market at €41,200 (ex works ) in manual form. An automatic version is also available at €44,050.

Priced €2,400 lower than its E220 CDI stablemate, and some 10 per cent below the model it replaces, the new E200 CDI has Artico leather upholstery as a standard feature.

Powered by a two litre, bi-turbo, common rail direct injection engine delivering 360Nm of torque with a top speed of 215kms, it comes with BlueEfficiency technology and has fuel consumption of 5.3 litres/100km (urban cycle ).

A CO2 rating of 139g/km in the manual version places it in Band B with annual road tax of €156. The automatic version falls into Band C with road tax of €302 per annum.

With its significantly improved design and equipment levels and its comprehensive range of new safety and fuel-saving features, Mercedes-Benz are keen to point out that the new E200 CDI BE is less expensive than its two German rivals.
