This week is National Savings Week, a public awareness initiative, supported by EBS Building Society, which is running in Westmeath and throughout the country from now until Saturday. As part of National Savings Week, 70 EBS offices around the country including the office in Mullingar, Westmeath will be open from 10am to 1pm on Saturday September 12.
The offices are opening on Saturday to help fit in with peoples busy schedules. Consumers are invited to drop in and discuss their saving and investment needs. Appointments can be made in advance, plus this will be the last chance for consumers to avail of a great, five month market leading fixed rate of 3.75 per cent gross per annum (3.79 per cent AER ).
An educational campaign of savings tips will run during National Savings Week on local radio station, Midlands 103 as well as on national radio which will focus on the benefits of savings. Also in support of National Savings Week on Friday September 18 the EBS team will be in Golden Island, Shopping Centre, Athlone and will be available for people to ask any financial questions that are on their mind.
National Savings Week, which is in its second year, seeks to raise public awareness about the importance of savings for the future at every stage of your life and is designed to help inform and educate people about the range of savings products and options that are available to them. Each day has a different financial theme and focus from children and teen savings to savings and investments, regular savings to pensions.
Speaking about National Savings Week, Aidan Power, head of marketing at EBS, said, “At EBS we believe that it is critically important that people develop a good savings habit to ensure that they can plan effectively for their own and their family’s futures. We are delighted to promote this public awareness campaign to encourage people to save on a regular basis. Providing competitive financial services for the whole family is core to the founding principles of the organisation and this week we are encouraging people to call into an EBS office in Westmeath this week or on to EBS Mullingar on Saturday to discuss their savings options.
“There is no doubt that now is a good time for people to consider saving some money regularly as they will get a strong return - we would encourage people to evaluate what they can afford to save each month and to put something aside so that they can have some security for future purchases that they might need.”
