Colm Rigney, of the legendary sporting Laois family, follows in the footsteps of his older brother Brian to captain Buccaneers. Backrower Colm is the youngest of the brood and is the fifth Rigney to play for Buccs; Des, Donal, and Kieran also preceding him.
Colm originally joined the Midlanders 11 years ago when Buccaneers made their debut in division one and was a Connacht stalwart for many seasons in the interim. Likely to be primarily used at No 8, Rigney will surely bring passion, steel, commitment, and workrate to Buccaneers, and if his teammates follow his example, then the Midlanders will be competitive.
