Showband legend Dickie Rock is to be honoured with the International Hall of Fame award at a gala night of stars in Athlone Radisson Hotel on Saturday October 19.
The showband legend joins Brendan Shine at the Entertainment Awards. Brendan also receives the Entertainment Hall of Fame award. They will be joined on then night by music greats Mike Denver, Paddy Cole, Eurovision star Paul Harrington, Mike English, and Keith McDonall and Showband. This annual awards show concert is one to watch.
Speaking to the Advertiser, organsier Desi Egan said, “This show is bigger than other years. Even though there’s a recession, the public loves a good night out. On the night we’ll have Mike English, who had a top selling album this year. Carmel and The Ravens will also be there as well new band The Lols from Moate, who are now set to take the Corporate Band of the Year award.”
Louis Walsh’s mother and sisters will be present as will local man making it big these days, Pascal Brennan. Look out for the single of the year with Paddy Cole and Kerry McDonall, who will perform on the night.
The Entertainment Awards, on Saturday October 19 will be presented by Midlands 103 DJ Joe Cooney and RTÉ’s Ronan Collins.
