DB Cycles launches new website in conjunction with Bike to Work scheme

DB Cycles on Magazine Road, Athlone launched their new website this week, www.dbcycles.ie The website carries extensive information on their bicycle collections for adults and children as well as information on the new government Bike to Work scheme.

Speaking at the launch Dermot Brennan owner of DB Cycles said, “People look to websites more and more for research and information prior to their purchases. We wanted to let people know about the extensive collections we have available in the shop and also about the quality repair and after sales services. We pride ourselves on our service. A sale is not just about a purchase it is about the whole package.”

The website also has a series of questions and answers on the new government Bike to Work scheme. In 2008 the Minister for the Environment John Gormley announced a new cycling initiative to allow employees to purchase a bike and associated equipment tax free. This is an excellent initiative where everyone benefits.

How it works: If you pay a tax rate of 41 per cent and PRSI of 6 per cent you can save a total of 47 per cent of your purchase. That means a saving of €470 in €1,000! The balance of €530 will be deducted over a 12 month period by your employer which is the equivalent of €10 per week. Takingnother example, if you buy a bike worth €250 and you pay 20 per cent tax and 6 per cent PRSI, then you will save €65 on your purchase and the balance of €185 can be paid over 52 weeks (approx €3.50 per week ).
