Keith Duffy to present drama awards in Mullingar

Olive Whelan, director of Olive Whelan’s Mullingar School of Drama, is proud to announce that one of Ireland’s leading celebrities is to visit the school this Saturday, September 5.

Star of the acting and music world, Keith Duffy will be in attendance on Saturday September 5 in Mullingar Arts Centre to welcome all the students and to be part of the celebration of their achievements with an awards ceremony taking place at 10am.

Current pupils, their parents, and new pupils are all welcome to the enrolment day.

Due to the huge success and reputation of the school, Olive will be expanding the programmes available this year with the launch of performing arts, a joint venture between Mullingar music, dance and drama school. More details will be available at a later date.

The well-established Mullingar School of Drama is affiliated to the Irish Board of Speech & Drama, where Olive is also a registered senior examiner. Students take examinations each year in acting, public speaking, reading, mime, poetry, art, and contemporary dance.

The Saturday classes offer children from pre-school right through to third level a varied and creative opportunity to participate in and experience expressive arts in all its forms. The school has dedicated, well-qualified teachers who believe in creative arts as a positive form of self expression, be it voice work drama, dance, art, puppetry, or music appreciation.

Classes are held in Mullingar Arts Centre, with a showcase of events planned for April 2010.

Newly available this year is an Education and Training course for adults who wish to qualify in the area of arts.

Olive is also available for private tuition and offers a personal development programme with emphasis on building self esteem and confidence for children and adults.
