The finalist businesses for the Westmeath County Enterprise Awards face an anxious wait to see if their business will be the overall winner of the prestigious Westmeath County Enterprise Board Business Award.
The winners will be announced at an awards lunch taking place on Thursday, September 17 at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Athlone. The overall winner will advance to the regional final, and eight finalists or county winners will be chosen by an independent panel of adjudicators to go forward to the National Enterprise Awards Final, scheduled for November 10 in Dublin Castle.
These businesses will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of previous winners like Grouse Lodge Recording Studio Ltd., Rosemount which won first place at the coveted County and City Enterprise Boards National Enterprise Awards and went on to win joint first place in the World Young Business Achievers Awards in Bulgaria in 2004.
This competition is sponsored nationally by the County and City Enterprise Boards and is the only competition of its type specifically for the micro-enterprise sector. It is hosted on an annual basis to acknowledge the achievements of small enterprise and their valuable contribution to the local economy.
The short-listed businesses have been adjudicated by an external team of judges who will judge entries in accordance to marketing strengths, financial strength, innovation, use of technology, entrepreneurial skills, and business plan.
This year’s finalists are MOHH Academy, Athlone; Critical Healthcare Ltd, Kilbeggan; Fifth Avenue Face & Body Clinic, Mullingar; Mullingar Crystal Ltd; Mind’s I Graphic Design Ltd, Mullingar; the International College of Hair and Beauty by Mairin G, Mullingar; and Robotic & Drive Services Ltd, Mullingar.
The annual County Enterprise awards, organised by Westmeath County Enterprise Board, give small businesses an opportunity to showcase the achievement of micro-businesses in the county.
The competition is hosted annually and is open to all Westmeath businesses which have received direct financial assistance from Westmeath County Enterprise Board since 1997.
