€334k funding for Roscommon fire equipment

Roscommon Fire Services are to benefit from some €334,000 in funding towards the purchase of fire and emergency equipment.

Minister of State at the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, Michael Finneran, TD, announced this week that the Department has sanctioned Roscommon County Council’s proposal to purchase the equipment, which includes emergency railway access platforms, road traffic accident equipment, and breathing apparatus sets and associated equipment.

Grant assistance of some €334,000 will be provided by the Department.

The allocation is in addition to the recent announcement approving Roscommon County Council for the purchase of a new Class B fire appliance.

“I am delighted to announce this funding for Roscommon County Council,” said Minister Finneran.

“The provision of this equipment is a further indication of the council’s commitment to the development of its fire and emergency services for the benefit of the people of Roscommon, and builds on the allocation of new appliances to Roscommon County Council in each of the previous three years under the Department’s Fire Services Capital Programmes.”
