Moate Business College enrolling for September

Moate Business College is the leading provider of further education in the Midlands. It provides full-time and part-time courses for approximately 450 students each year. Courses range from Childcare to Art and Design, and Sport and Leisure to Computer Studies. There is a choice of 14 different courses. Students at MBC benefit from top of the range facilities and equipment much of which has been upgraded – once again - during the summer of 2009. The college offers students the opportunity to study in a friendly environment, which caters for their needs. Upon completion of their studies at MBC, students will receive a FETAC certificate combined with other qualifications such as the BTEC Diploma in Social Care or the OCR Higher Diploma in Administration. With these qualifications students are fully equipped to enter the work force or to progress to degree courses in higher education colleges.

For a variety of reasons including, no doubt, the current economic downturn, MBC has received far more applications this year than the number of places available. They have received for example more than 80 applications for just 25 available places in Sport and Leisure; 150 applications for 85 places in Social Studies and there are 60 applicants for 34 places in Art and Design.

Students attending Moate Business College vary in age from school leavers to mature adults returning to education. Participants travel from places such as Edenderry, Ballinasloe, Roscommon, Tullamore, Athlone, and Longford to attend the college. Students who attend the college are eligible for the third level maintenance grant and also for VTOS or BTEI allowances. Application to the college is through a direct application entry route with all courses having selection interviews.
