While spring/ summer saw 80s inspired looks from ra-ra skirts to acid washed jeans, next season gives a nod to the same decade but in a completely different way - the power dresser! The Littlewoods autumn/ winter ‘09 collection is also inspired by the elegance of the 40s but with a modern twist, which combines the New Austerity with postwar Hollywood glamour. This 40s film star look is all about skirt-suits, super dresses, and the ever important court shoe with an emphasis on strong red and checked patterns.
Another hit for autumn/winter ‘09 is the theatrical look of past icons: Desperately Seeking Susan, Adam Ant, and the tutus of Cyndi Lauper. Mix and match prettiness and flounces, think skinny jeans, batwing stripe jumpers, over-sized pleat front tops, pearls, and statement crystal rings, accompanied by the ubiquitous biker jacket for a modern edge.
