Former elected representative nominated by Labour Party to contest local elections

Putting his name on the ballot paper in the Athlone electoral area, the former elected representative is seeking a return to local government upon the conclusion of the post election ballot count.

“As a member of the Labour Party James Connolly Branch in Athlone, I am proud to be nominated by the branch to represent the party in the upcoming local elections on June 7.

“I was first elected to Athlone Town Council in 2004 and during my term I fought vigorously for the betterment of the Town and its people.

“I’m so sad to see the two main streets of our town, Connaught Street and Church Street, in such decline. If elected, I will give my full energy to make sure these two great streets become vibrant once again. With Athlone’s fabulous location there should be more emphasis on tourism to our town and area.

“Housing for all is very important now and this issue has always been part of my manifesto going back to 2004. It is important that new builds and affordable housing are made available in our community,” Mr Lennon stated.
