The staff, children, and their parents from Grovelands Childcare in the IDA Business Park and Corran Riada Monksland, Athlone, Market Point, Mullingar, and Sragh IDA Business Park, Tullamore facilities raised over €1,000 for preschool children in Kenya by staging their graduation concert and holding an art exhibition for parents and friends.
In the past funds raised by Grovelands Childcare for Kenya went to providing soup kitchens to feed the children who sometimes go hungry as maize is in short supply. All the parents over the past five years have supported Regina and her staff in their effort to improve early childhood care and education in the parish of the Risen Christ in Chepnyal, which reaches out to a population of roughly 30,000 people in West Pokot, Western Kenya where there are two Irish Daughters of Charity and an Irish Kiltegan priest who look after educational and spiritual development.
All donations translate into a considerable sum of Kenyan shillings, which will go a long way. It will be used entirely for the substation effort that currently serves over 260 children in five locations. The €2,000 raised this year will help fund training and create six new preschool locations in Kenya.
In addition to the Kenya Fund, Grovelands Childcare this year raised over €6,000 for the Make A Wish Foundation.
Regina would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff, children, and parents for their fantastic support in making the wishes of children who are in need come true.
