Award winning mentalist and magician Oisin Foley will host his all new show ‘MINDREADER’ in the Brazen Monkey on Saturday April 20, at 9pm.

Speaking to the Athlone Advertiser this week, Oisin, who hails from Castledaly, detailed what audience members can expect from his Athlone performance.

“I am super excited to bring my show back home to Athlone. It’s always fun getting to gig back in the area and it’s an excuse to see family and friends that I might not get a chance to see otherwise. Hometown performances are always amazing fun and really give me a challenge as I know I can’t ‘pull the wool’ over the eyes of those who know me best.

“I am not psychic nor do I claim to be - in fact what I do is mix psychology, magic tricks, comedy and quick thinking to give the impression that I can read minds and influence people, but the show isn’t really about me as without an audience I’ve no minds to read, it is a really interactive experience.

“It is shaping up to be a really fun night. I have returned to what I know best and I’ll be breaking out some really old tricks with a modern twist as I make them my own and ensure that this show is an experience for all those in attendance,” Oisin enthused.

The local man was named ‘Wedding Magician of the Year’ at the 2023 Wedding Industry awards and regularly performs at weddings and events across the country but always insists that he honed his talents through years of attending Centre Stage Youth Theatre and Spotlight Youth Theatre as a child before joining Athlone Musical Society for a number of years.

“I was always messing with a deck of cards or something backstage and in the green room and probably drove people demented”, he laughed.

After moving to Dublin in late 2019, Oisin recently purchased his first home with fiancé Edel in Newbridge, County Kildare and looks forward to celebrating their wedding later this year in Ballymagarvey Village.

“I’d be lost without her. She’s always there to support me or give me words of encouragement when they are needed,” Oisin concluded.

Tickets are still available for the show which will start at 9pm on Saturday, April 20, and can be purchased at the following link : https://www.eventbrite.com/e/mindreader-oisin-foley-tickets-870953083117.
