Skoda has provided us with a first glimpse of its new entry-level battery-electric SUV crossover, which will be called the ‘Epiq’.
It will go on sale in 2025 and is expected to cost around €25,000 in Europe, which should keep it under the €30k mark once it reaches Ireland. This will make it the Czech brand’s most affordable EV to date.
At 4.1 metres in length, Skoda says it will feature a spacious interior and up to 490 litres of luggage capacity, while its range is quoted at around 400 kilometres. The Epiq also supports bidirectional charging, meaning it can charge other electrical appliances.
The vehicle will fully incorporate Skoda’s new ‘Modern Solid’ design language – inside and out. This will be complemented by new technologies and assistance features.
Its grille houses electrical devices like the distance radar and the front camera. This is flanked by bifunctional, T-shaped LED elements for the daytime running lights and indicators. The front headlamps are in a lower, secondary position and feature Matrix LED technology.
The interior has an open storage compartment that includes a wireless mobile phone charger in the free-floating centre console as well as extra compartments for even more storage options.
The two-spoke steering wheel showcases the new Skoda lettering as well as physical buttons and haptic scroll wheels with orange accents to control key functions while driving. The mobile digital key also enables a wide range of interactions via the customer’s smart device.
