Athlone Professor Neil Rowan has received the inaugural ‘Outstanding Contribution to Research in TUS’ award.

For over three decades, Professor Rowan has been to the forefront of advancing applied microbiology to address complex societal challenges in medtech, food science and the environment.

He has supervised 40 PhD students to completion and has published in 350 journals and conference papers, solidifying his reputation as a leading authority in his field.

In December, Stanford University released its prestigious list of the ‘World’s Top 2% of Scientists’ for 2023. Among the individuals recognised, Professor Rowan stands out for his outstanding research activity and impact.

“Professor Rowan’s extraordinary achievements and unwavering dedication to advancing the frontiers of knowledge, have left an indelible mark on the TUS community and beyond,” Professor Vincent Cunnane, TUS President remarked.
