Referendums resoundingly defeated in Longford/Westmeath constituency

The Longford/Westmeath constituency electorate have resoundingly defeated the referenda presented before the public in the polling booths on Friday last, March 8.

The counting of constituency votes for the Referendums on the 39th amendment of the Constitution (Family ) Bill 2023 and the 40th amendment to the Constitution (Care ) Bill 2023 took place in the John McCormack Hall on TUS Athlone Campus, official results revealing a 78.56 percent electorate vote against (care ) and a 74.63 percent electorate vote against (family ).

The overall turnout in the Longford/Westmeath constituency was 40.85 percent with the County Westmeath electorate (40.3 percent ) voting in higher numbers than that of their County Longford counterparts (36.9 percent ).
