Cupra is set to add even more power and range to its fully-electric Born hatchback, with the introduction of the new VZ trim, which we’re told will be launched in Ireland during the third quarter of 2024.

According to the Spanish brand, the Cupra Born VZ will have a 77kWh battery capable of producing a range of up to 560 kilometres. This would give it a slightly better range than the current e-Boost version.

The battery pack has been improved and now offers 79kWh of net capacity. Cupra says the Born VZ can be recharged at home using an 11kW AC system or at a DC 170kW fast-charging point, meaning a fast charge from 10 to 80 per cent should take within 30 minutes.

Performance wise, the Born VZ will boast 240kW/325hp of power with 545nm of torque, making it considerably quicker than the Born e-Boost. The new model is also said to have a 0-100km/h sprint of 5.7 seconds and an increased top speed of 200km/h. Steering, suspension and braking have all been upgraded, the brand said.

Inside, the Cupra Born VZ features new cup bucket seats and a 12.9 inch infotainment system as standard. The exterior design is enriched with two new 20-inch alloy wheels, including one forged with performance tyres, the standout VZ logo on the rear as well as new colours - ‘Dark Forest’ and ‘Midnight Black’.
