Ford has revealed an updated version of its popular Puma, which is said to feature an all-new interior, large digital displays, cutting-edge connectivity and advanced driving technologies.
The brand is also set to introduce the fully-electric Puma Gen-E later this year, which will be the first Puma to deliver zero-tailpipe emission driving.
In Ireland, Ford will sell the updated Puma in Titanium, ST-Line and ST-Line X trims, all of which will be powered by a 1.0-litre EcoBoost mild hybrid engine. A seven-speed automatic gearbox is also available.
Six colours are available to choose from, including a new Cactus Grey. The car also has puddle lamps in the door mirrors that project the Puma logo onto the ground, while headlamps can be upgraded with Dynamic Matrix LED technology.
The updated Puma retains its 80-litre Megabox in the boot, as well as having up to 456 litres of cargo capacity.
Inside, a new sports car-style cockpit wraps around the occupants with screens mounted high and angled towards the driver, while physical buttons are now at a minimum.
Two large screens keep drivers up-to-date and in control. The 12.8-inch digital instrument cluster can be customised to show the information each drivers finds most helpful, while the high-definition 12.0-inch centre touchscreen has been designed to make it easy to view and control maps, infotainment and functions like climate and seat heating.
The latest Puma model’s SYNC 4 connectivity and infotainment system has twice the computing power of the previous version and adapts to make it easiest to access the features drivers use most, according to Ford.
Voice recognition is said to “understand everyday language” and smartphones can be easily integrated using wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto – and recharged via wireless charging. 5G connectivity is another added convenience for drivers.
Ford’s new Puma also features intelligent adaptive cruise control with stop & go and lane centring, predictive speed assist to adjust cruising speed for curves in the road, roundabouts, and when entering or leaving the motorway.
A 360-degree surround-view camera system can also display a bird’s eye view, to help avoid scrapes when parking.
