At the end of what has been a busy year for the volunteers at Lough Ree RNLI comes the news that Santa Claus is going to take time out from his hectic schedule to attend the Christmas Open Day at Lough Ree RNLI boathouse at Coosan Point on Saturday, December 16.
“We have had a very special year welcoming visitors to our new facility. Among the most enthusiastic are our younger supporters and we are delighted that they will have the opportunity to meet Santa at the Christmas Open Day,” Lough Ree Station Visits Officer, Paul Kelly, said.
This free event, which begins at 1.30pm, has a particular focus on children with a children’s DJ providing the music, a special face painting booth and Santa arriving by boat to his special grotto in the lifeboat station at 3pm.
The volunteer crew at Lough Ree RNLI will also welcome fellow first responders from Athlone Fire Service who will be at Coosan Point for the afternoon.
The RNLI pop-up shop will also be open for the afternoon. The shop will carry the full range of RNLI Christmas Cards along with many new products ahead of the charity’s 200th anniversary next year and a wide range of stocking fillers.
