Former RTÉ Midlands correspondent Ciaran Mullooly hosted an Athlone launch of his new book The Future Is Now in The Bounty Bar on Tuesday evening.

A well attended occasion, Ciaran was joined by Athlone Town women’s captain, Laurie Ryan, Athlone and Westmeath senior footballer, Ray Connellan, RTE commentator, Marty Morrissey and Pieta House Midlands fundraising and advocacy executive, Gerard Tiernan, for the launch.

The Future Is Now details Ciaran’s thoughts on the crisis within RTÉ and further highlights the former broadcaster’s involvement in community development, as well as broaching the issues of the Midlands’ changing industrial landscape with Bord na Móna and the ESB moving away from peat-fired power generation.

Part proceeds from the book will go towards the running costs of the Pieta House Midlands centre located on Sean Costello Street.
