Westmeath GAA underage development squad open training sessions continue

Open training sessions for the Westmeath GAA underage development squads in both codes continues apace as the 2024 season looms.

On Wednesday night last, the astroturf in St Lomans played host to the U15 and U16 footballers, while the U14 footballers trained on the astro-turf facility in Cullion on Saturday.

All three age groups in hurling were hosted by Castletown-Geoghegan on Saturday morning. The fantastic new indoor hall was utilised for athletic development work, while the astro-turf allowed for skill development for all players.

These sessions will continue across the month of November and we would like to thank each club for hosting, and our staff and coaches for organising the sessions. Well done to all players who attended.

Introduction to Gaelic Games (Football ) Course

The first of Westmeath’s winter coach education courses took place last Friday and Saturday in Rosemount, with coaches undertaking the introduction to gaelic games (football ) course. Coaches were put through both theoretical and practical sessions that will help them and their future players in their training sessions and games.

Thanks to Rosemount for hosting, for staff for facilitating the course, and to coaches for attending. The next course being hosted, introduction to gaelic games (hurling ), takes place this coming Friday and Saturday in Ballymore.
